A Dearth of Candles

I took my Grocery Buddy shopping today, and she wanted some candles. I thought that might be a good idea, especially since before we got our electricity back after Sandy we had run down our “normal” candles and dug out the Christmas Hurricane (ha!) Candles.

We found that we weren’t the first people to come up with this great, if not original, idea. Oh well. There are worse things than going to bed at sundown. Let’s hope the heavy snow and wild winds outside don’t bring down too many branches. Fingers crossed!

  1. That picture says it all. Jeepers. Your experience–everyone’s experience–suggests how profoundly vulnerable we all are, even as we pretend we’ve got it all together… Er…melt some crayons and make candles? A craft AND light!

Oh dear. A chance to catch up on your sleep?

  3. Kianwi says:

Wow, it is so hard to believe that your shelves are empty, when just hours away in Michigan, we have all the candles you could ever need. Stil hard to take in the enormity of the effects of the hurricane.

just be careful, the fire dept. is always putting out warnings not to use candles. i know, i know but i’m a mother… i worry!
